As part of the annual "State Fair" at Lincoln Elementary, the 4th Grade students performed "America, the Beautiful". For the State Fair, each student is given one of the 50 United States to study. The students then place their completed projects on display for viewing in the Lincoln gymnasium.

The East H.S. Auto Club raised over $1000 for Lazarus House by offering services such as oil changes and brake and shock replacement in exchange for a donation for the cost of the labor. Customers supplied the parts, the club members did the work while also gaining valuable "hands-on" experience.

The St. Charles East Theatre Department presented “The Family Man”, a comedy in three acts, for their winter production. The story is set in the 1960's, and through comedy explores men's and women’s roles in society. When the "man" of the house breaks his leg playing baseball, he is forced to stay at home to cook, clean, and take care of the kids, while the wife goes to work.

| Davis Students "Explore" the Human Heart

February means Valentine's Day and students at Davis Elementary learned about the human heart. In their P.E. classes the students heard about how to maintain a healthy heart from Mrs. Nancy Mattson and then were led through a maze designed to follow the path of blood flow through the heart. Mr. Tim "Mac" McCastland gave an inadvertent example of how large pieces of plaque can block an artery! In the video you'll see Mr. "Mac" walking the Kindergartners through the path the first time, the students increased their speed on later trips to simulate increased blood flow through a heart and to get their actual heart rates to increase through exercise.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Don Schlomann visited each of the 17 schools in District 303 during December to explain to staff members the current budget situation in District 303. Part of the activity included a chance to chat with some of Mrs. Biles relatives from Cuba, such as Daisy Rodriguez (the grandmother of Mrs. Biles’ husband) and Virginia Jimenez (Mrs. Biles grandmother). In video above, students are asking about jobs worked in Cuba and about Cuban heritage.

A Halloween tradition at Thompson Middle School is "Scary Stories". In this video clip, Edgar Allan Poe reads his classic short story The Tell-Tale Heart to Thompson students. "Scary Stories" is produced by Reading Resource Specialist Sue Izzo (she's Mr. Poe in the video) and former LRC Director Chris Sherman. Please excuse the low light in the video, Sue and Chris did a great job of converting Thompson's Lower Gym into a creepy venue.

Ms. Neville kept her walking speed constant by listening to a music beat as she walked back and forth along a 10-meter line. A Halloween tradition at Thompson Middle School is "Scary Stories". In this video clip, Edgar Allan Poe reads his classic short story The Tell-Tale Heart to Thompson students. "Scary Stories" is produced by Reading Resource Specialist Sue Izzo (she's Mr. Poe in the video) and former LRC Director Chris Sherman. Please excuse the low light in the video, Sue and Chris did a great job of converting Thompson's Lower Gym into a creepy venue.

East High School Science Teacher Carole Neville provides the moving target as her students calculate when to drop an egg from the top of the bleachers at Norris Stadium. Ms. Neville kept her walking speed constant by listening to a music beat as she walked back and forth along a 10-meter line. The students obviously did a good job in calculations because they scored several successful drops.
